Brotherly Love

Stephen Loves his little brother. He wants to hold him constantly and help when ever possible. Unfortunately, he doesn't realize he needs to be more gentile. This is something we will really need to work on. He tries to pick him up regardless of where he is, including if I am nursing Nathan. I think we are going to buy him his own "baby" to take care of, possibly tomorrow.

Nathan is doing great. He is 4 days old today. Nursing is going well, although I am very sore. He has only been eating off one side during each feeding so I am going to pump also, to build the storage we have for when I go back to work.

It was also Stephen's first day back to daycare, and while the drop of wasn't the greatest, he enjoyed it and we were able to get some running around accomplished. He is going to be going to daycare less since I will be home (Tue and Thurs instead of all week). I am not sure how this will go over. He craves the attention and companionship of his peers and I don't know if being home with Mommy is going to cut it. I don't think it will help that with winter fast approaching, that will mean more days inside and lead to cabin fever for him. I need to figure out some enriching things to do when he is home that won't require me taking a new baby out in the cold.

I have two goals while I am off work. 1)We (or at least I) am going to start doing more cooking for dinner. The goal is to plan a week of meals that I can make for all of us to eat so that we are eating healthier and saving some money and 2) picking a spot in the house (ie. the pantry, bedroom, etc) and cleaning/organizing it. We have really let things slide and I should have the time (especially on the days Stephen is at daycare) to work on it. It will also be easier once we have a finished basement (Thank you Mom and Dad) and I can move things around so it isn't as cluttered.

  1. giving Stephen jobs like wiping/dusting is great for his age. They want to help and a damp rag or organizing something is a good time consuming trick. Also, bundle him up and let him play in the back yard. He will get fresh air and sleep better. I let him walk around here, just to see what was what and get fresh air. Any girl friends with 2-3 yr olds to have play dates with? Love You
